photo juxtaposition

Yet another fabulous way to use the stacked accordion!
The focus of this project is all in the photos.
Each page in the accordion is filled with a black and white image, which makes for a stunning presentation when it is displayed fully open.

BUT it was the way that Ann used the stacked mini book in the accordion to juxtapose a color version of the same photo over them that makes this album so unique.  Oh the possibilities...

what on gypsy earth is a "stacked" accordion?

Simply put it's an accordion book done 7gypsies style.

When we created this little gem we weren't quite content just offering your standard accordion... we knew it could be so much more.  So we "stacked" a stitched seam book into several of the accordion folds for an unexpected addition to an already interesting book style.  Ours also comes with 2 naked book board covers to finish it off.  By the time you add your own photos and favorite embellishments you'll feel like a master book maker.

Take inspiration in this beautiful version by gypsy Ranjini.  It was this month's product challenge.  The Venice collection papers, paper tape and clear stamp are the perfect backdrop to her stunning photos.

LOVE the way the paper tape looks holding her photos in place!  A simple but artistic touch to embellishing a journal.

Molto Bello indeed!

March Guest Designer
and
New Design Team Member
Mou Saha
Mou created a fabulous stacked accordion using bright colored paint, Avignon paper and lots of other gypsy goodness.  Her vision of what can be done with a simple accordion album is fresh and packed with techniques that can be applied to any number of projects.  So sit back and enjoy...Mou Saha has joined the gypsy caravan and we couldn't be happier.
Welcome!

Step-by-step Instructions:
1. Paint the front of the stacked accordion. Dangle a key and binding ring drop on a Gypsy tag tied together with seam binding ribbons. Embellish with stickers, tapes and paper.
2. Create 'bases' for the page inserts with patterned papers trimmed to fit,  photos, stickers, tags, traced tags and paint.
3. Add chipboard letters, more stickers, stamping and ephemera to embellish. Journal and tie everything together with a little more paint.
4. Make tabs with gaffer and paper tapes, stickers, seam binding ribbons, etc.
Notice what Mou did with the ATC & Photo Display shapes of a little bird and a pear? ...she used them as a template to cut out the shape in patterned paper and then adhered the patterned paper over the creme cardstock.  Clever.

Here's how it looks
Here she filled in the negative space with paint and lettering.  What a great technique!

Makes you want to pick up your paint brush doesn't it?
